We all send our best wishes to Jim our MD who has been in hospital over the past few weeks and had surgery last week. He will be in hospital for some time yet but is in good spirits and on the road to recovery.
HSAP Member Alex Darby and her fiancé Jonathan were married on 6th June 2008. All the best to the new Mr & Mrs Carey – we hope you had a wonderful day. Fellow HSAP regular Jacqui Hogg and her fiancé Mark Bell are also tying the knot on 1st August 2008 and we wish them every happiness for their future together.
Congratulations to both couples with love from all your friends at HSAP. Xxx Just a quick reminder to members that this year’s AGM will be on Monday 2nd June 2008 at 7.30pm.
“A Chorus Line” opened on Tuesday 20th May 2008 – an extravaganza of song and dance depicting the ambitions and fears of a group of young hopefuls auditioning for a part in a Broadway musical.
Judging by the audience’s reaction the show was very well received indeed, and we have already received such favourable comments as: “Having watched the Chorus Line tonight I am thoroughly impressed and enjoyed the performance massively. Well done to you all and absolutely first class!!” “I knew it would be a first class production, but I was absolutely amazed by the professionalism of the cast, the quality of the acting, harmony singing and dancing from every member of the company. I know how much work goes into these productions, and all I can say is it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I enjoyed it so much, that I’m going to get tickets to see it again on Saturday. You really do have a show to be proud of. It is one most companies would not even attempt, but you more than did it justice.” Tickets for the remaining shows are still available at Harrogate Theatre, call the box office on 01423 502116 to book now and see for yourself! Our Press and Publicity officer Natalie Fulcher recently raised over £4,000 in aid of St Michael’s Hospice. Her 21st birthday party was held in aid of the hospice and she even auctioned off her birthday presents for charity! Eton Road, one of the bands that found fame on X Factor provided the entertainment, along with a magician, a great compère and even Natalie herself gave us a song! Those of us who attended from HSAP had a truly magical evening – thank you and well done!
We have received a certificate from the Mercury Phoenix Trust gratefully acknowledging our donation of £2,800 following our sell out performances of We Will Rock You in May 2007. The certificate has been signed by Brian May so we have archived it very carefully!
We also donated £2,800 to Leukaemia Research, our other nominated charity. HSAP were once again winners at the Wharfedale Awards, for our November 2007 production of “Anything Goes”. Jim Lunt won “Best Musical Director” and Louise Denison won “Best Choreography”. Congratulations to both of them, and many thanks as ever for their sterling efforts, hard work and dedication.
The first rehearsal of the HSAP Concert Singers will be on Wednesday 16th January at the Rugby Club.
If you would like to join this vibrant group, or know anyone who loves to sing and might like to join, then come along to the first rehearsal! For more information e-mail chairman@hsap.co.uk. On Wednesday 12th December we are holding our last get together of 2007! This will be held at the Rugby Club, 7.30pm for 8.00pm and costs just £3.00.
All members and patrons are welcome to attend, to celebrate the year that has passed over a few mince pies and some mulled wine! The HSAP Concert Singers will be providing the entertainment, including a sing-along Christmas Carol section! Hope to see you all there for some festive cheer! The S.S. American has now sailed into and out of Harrogate Theatre. Despite the show not being a financial success, artistically it was yet another great show to add to HSAP’s long list of top quality productions!
Audience reactions to the show were excellent, with superb feedback received by the Front of House team as the audiences left the Theatre at the end of each evening. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who was involved in the show and for all your efforts in producing yet another outstanding show! |
